Our programing and affiliations continue to grow, furthering our mission for Nebraska and regional artists. Here are the many events at Gallery 1516 this year.

Opening “Nebraska 8 Invitational”
Reception on Sunday, January 20th — 4 to 7pm
Featuring the work of eight phenomenal artists associated with Nebraska: Mary Zicafoose, Christina Narwicz, Karen Kunc, Jacqueline Kluver, Gail Kendall, Sheila Hicks, Catherine Ferguson, and Wanda Ewing.
FEB 14
Valentine’s Day Event
Enjoy wine paired with chocolates by Tina Tweedy of Chocolate Abeille, live music by Olga Smola, poetry readings by Meredith Fuller, and the Nebraska 8 Invitational exhibition.
Thursday, February 14th — 7-9pm, $50 per ticket, limited seating available

Join us for Nebraska Shakespeare’s first performance of the 2019 season!
Arrive at 2pm to meet the cast before the performance begins at 3pm.

AIA Nebraska Lecture Series

Featuring Jack DeBartolo III of the Phoenix-based architectural studio, debartolo architects. His lecture will focus on several of the studio’s recent projects which employ material and light to shape memorable environments.

Lonnie Pierson Dunbier & Jeffrey Spencer
Thursday, September 19th — 6:30-9:00 pm
Lonnie Dunbier, educator and daughter-in-law of artist Augustus W. Dunbier, will give a talk about the artist’s life and work. Historian Jeffrey Spencer will give a talk about artist Robert F. Gilder. Lectures begin at 7pm.
Landscape paintings by Dunbier and Gilder, as well as fellow artist Eugene Kingman, are currently on view in the Plein Air Artists exhibition at Gallery 1516.

Robin Donaldson is a founding partner of ShubinDonaldson, an architecture firm based in Culver City. His lecture “Masking + Material,” will focus on different approaches to architectural drawings in the design process.
Social hour with drinks and hors d'oeuvres at 6 pm, lecture begins at 7 pm.

A collection of photographs by Joel Sartore from his groundbreaking project, Photo Ark. Photo Ark is an ongoing effort to document species before they disappear — and get people to care while there’s still time.
